Ocean City
January 1: 29th Annual Atlantic General Hospital Penguin Swim
The AGH Penguin Swim is an annual fundraiser to support the nonprofit hospital. Each year, hundreds of participants take a dip into the chilly waters off Ocean City to support quality care within the community. Check-in and registration is 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., with the Penguin Swim taking place at noon. Registration is $25 per person on or before Dec. 30, and $30 per person on Dec. 31 and Jan. 1.
January 6-7: Disney’s Moana Jr.
The Ocean Pines Children’s Theatre presents Disney’s Moana Jr. Performances will take place Jan. 6 at 7 p.m. and Jan. 7 at 3 p.m. at the Ocean City Performing Arts Center. Tickets are $15 a person.
January 13: The B.B. King Experience Featuring Claudette King
Claudette King, the daughter of legendary blues singer B.B. King, has teamed up with the B.B. King Blues Band to tour the country with a performance of the B.B. King Experience. The show begins at 8 p.m. at the Ocean City Performing Arts Center.
January 14: Thomas McClary’s Commodores
Thomas McClary’s Commodores comes to the Ocean City Performing Arts Center Jan. 14 at 8 p.m. McClary was part of a new musical group that was credited with seven No. 1 songs and boasts more than 50 albums with more than 120 million units sold.
January 15: The Spinners
The Spinners, a musical group that achieved 12 gold records, numerous hit songs and six Grammy nominations, visits the Ocean City Performing Arts Center with original member Henry Fambrough and five new vocalists. The show begins at 8 p.m.
January 23: Originals Only
The Art League of Ocean City will host its monthly Originals Only showcase from 7-9 p.m. Enjoy coffee and live performances by DomtheGonzo, Josh Quillen, Big Chap and Fraiser Fir. Event is free to attend.
Fenwick Island
January 1: Fenwick Freeze
The Fenwick Freeze will take place on the beaches of Bayard Street, beginning at 10:30 p.m. Pre-registration will take place through Dec. 29 at Town Hall. Registration forms are available on the town’s website. Funds raised from the event will support the Fenwick Island Beach Patrol.
Bethany Beach
January 1: Leo Brady’s New Year’s Day Plunge
Bethany Boathouse and the Bethany-Fenwick Area Chamber of Commerce will host its annual New Year’s Day Plunge event in downtown Bethany Beach. The plunge takes place at noon, followed by a post-party at the Bethany Boathouse.
January 14: Denim & Diamonds Contractors For A Cause
Denim & Diamonds Contractors for a Cause will take place at Harvest Tide Restaurant from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Funds raised from the event will go to build an inventory of ramps for members of the community. Tickets are $125 a person.
January 14: Friends of Holts Landing State Park Trail Day
Friends of Holts Landing State Park will host a Trail Day from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Join the crew to spruce up the state park. Coffee, donuts and tools will be provided.
Dewey Beach
January 1: Dewey Dunk
Community members are invited to attend the Dewey Dunk, held on Dagsworthy Street at noon on New Year’s Day. Registration begins at 11 a.m. The registration fee is $25.
January 28: Dewey Beach Winter Gala
Taking place at Hyatt’s Lighthouse Cove event center at 8 p.m., the Dewey Beach Winter Gala will feature beer, wine, cocktails and culinary treats from numerous Dewey restaurants. The event will also feature live music from the Blue Cat Blues Band, DJ Manny Man and The Reagan Years. Tickets are $95 a person.
Lewes
January 14: Welcome To The Zwaanendael Museum”
“Welcome to the Zwaanendael Museum,” a presentation highlighting what the museum does and its plans for 2023, will take place at 4 p.m. via Zoom. Additional information will be posted on the museum’s website.
January 28: Coastal Concerts Presents Imani Winds Woodwind Quintet
Taking place from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., Imani Winds Woodwind Quintet will present a traditional chamber music repertoire. Admission is $40 a person.
